Mississippi Valley Council in conjunction with the Quincy Art Center will be offering an Art Merit Badge Day on Saturday, August 2, from 8:30 am-4pm! Scouts attending will be earning three art-themed merit badges: Art, Textiles and Pottery.
Registration cost:
$60/Scout which includes a gallery tour, lunch, a small weaving, (4) 2-D artworks, and (5) small ceramics. Pre-requisites will be required and due at registration.
How to Register:
This multi-badge event is limited to the first 16 scouts so register early by emailing co**************@******ng.org. Due to the cost of the materials needed, registrations must be paid for by Friday, July 25th online, by phone or in person to secure your spot; unpaid registrations will be replaced by waitlisted scouts.
Given the nature of the activities, smocks will be available to cover uniform shirts. Please be advised that ink, paint, charcoal, glazes, clay, and dye can stain clothing so please wear appropriate pants/shorts and shoes.
Day Agenda:
8:30 am Check-In at Quincy Art Center located at 1515 Jersey ST, Quincy, IL 62301. Note: Parking is on the street or behind the building.
9:00 am Welcome and Opening Remarks by QAC Director
9:05 am Gallery Tour, Art and Textiles studio time
Noon Lunch and additional studio time
1:00 pm Pottery – group split between wheels and studio
4:00 pm Clean up and Departure
Pre-Requisites:
Art: 2, 5 (b) – please bring an object to utilize, 7
Textile: 1, 4, 6 – List 5 career possibilities
Pottery: 4, 6, 8
Post-Requisite:
Pottery: 5 – submit photo of a piece decorated
